LED Flood Light has always been one of the most indispensable products in construction sites. It can operate at low temperature, has low power consumption and high illuminating efficiency.
There are many factors to consider about how to choose a LED Flood Light. WISETECH, as Manufacturing Vendor, surveyed the characteristics of all the LED Flood Lights on the market to give you an idea of what is right for you.
1.Does Flood Light need to be portable?
If the working light is to fixed in some place for a long time or for permanent use, then Portable is not a must consider point. Otherwise, portable LED floodlight is a better choice. As it makes things more flexible.
2.What lighting solution is the best, DC, Hybrid or AC version?
Currently, DC version becomes popular, as with built-in battery, undoubtedly it brings a lot of convenience and can be used in most kinds of occasions, especially when there is no mains power connector. However, when you need a strong lighting output and long-term uninterrupted operating, AC and Hybrid are better choice if it is allowed to connect the light to AC power supply. This is point that the DC version of the product cannot replace.
From the sight of cost, normally the Hybrid cost is highest, and DC cost is higher than AC.
3.How to select a suitable luminous flux?
The higher power, the better? The better lumen, the better?
Luminous flux is measured in lumen, better lumen means higher brightness. How to select a suitable lumen, it depends on the size of work place. The place is larger, the lumen request should be better.
The brightness of a halogen light is measured by its power level, and more powerful bulbs mean more brightness. However, the relationship between the brightness of the latest led Work Lights and their power level is not so close. Even for the same power level, the difference between the output brightness of different led Work Lights is very large, and the difference with halogen lamps is even bigger.
For example, a 500W halogen can emit the light about 10,000 lumens. This brightness may only equal the brightness of a 120W LED light.
4.How to choose the color temperature?
If you keep an eye on LED lighting trends, you’ll see some LEDs labeled “5000K” or “fluorescent”. This means that the color temperature of the LED lamp is similar to the color temperature of the sun’s rays. What’s more, they don’t contain much blue or yellow light. For electricians, this will help them see the colors of different wires. For the painter, the colors in this light are also closer to the real colors, so they don’t look too different in the daytime.
For construction site, efficiency is given more priority over color temperature in such areas. The recommended color temperature usually falls between 3000 K and 5000 K.
5.Where should you fix your Mobile Flood Lights in the workplace?
It is a good choice to fix the high power Mobile Flood Light on a tripod or use Tripod Light directly in the work place.
You can also unfold the bracket of the Mobile Flood Light to let it stand on a countertop, or fix it to an iron surface or other location by magnets or clips that come with the Light.
6.How to choose the IP class for Construction Mobile Flood Light?
IP class is the international code used to identify the protection level. IP is composed of two numbers, the first number means dust-proof; The second number by means of waterproof.
The IP20 protection is usually sufficient indoors, where waterproof usually plays only a minor role. In the case of outdoor use, there is a great potential for foreign objects and water to enter. Not only dust or dirt, but also small insects can enter the equipment as foreign objects. Rain, snow, sprinkler systems, and many similar situations that occur outdoors require corresponding waterproof protection. Therefore, in outdoor work place, we recommend at least IP44 protection level. The higher the number, the higher the protection is.
IP rating | Declaration |
IP 20 | covered |
IP 21 | protected against dripping water |
IP 23 | protected against sprayed water |
IP 40 | protected against foreign objects |
IP 43 | protected against foreign objects and sprayed water |
IP 44 | protected against foreign objects and splashing water |
IP 50 | protected against dust |
IP 54 | protected against dust and sprayed water |
IP 55 | protected against dust and hosed water |
IP 56 | dust-proof and watertight |
IP 65 | dust proof and hose proof |
IP 67 | dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water |
IP 68 | dust-tight and protected against continuous immersion in water |
7.How to choose the IK class for Construction Mobile Flood Light?
The IK rating is an international standard that indicates how resistant a product is to impact. The standard BS EN 62262 relates to IK ratings, to identify the degree of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts.
In construction work place, we recommend at least IK06 protection level. The higher the number, the higher the protection is.
IK rating | Testing capability |
IK00 | Not protected |
IK01 | Protected against 0.14 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 0.25kg mass dropped from 56mm above-impacted surface.
IK02 | Protected against 0.2 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 0.25kg mass dropped from 80mm above-impacted surface.
IK03 | Protected against 0.35 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 0.25kg mass dropped from 140mm above-impacted surface.
IK04 | Protected against 0.5 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 0.25kg mass dropped from 200mm above-impacted surface.
IK05 | Protected against 0.7 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 0.25kg mass dropped from 280mm above-impacted surface.
IK06 | Protected against 1 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 0.25kg mass dropped from 400mm above-impacted surface.
IK07 | Protected against 2 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 0.5kg mass dropped from 400mm above-impacted surface.
IK08 | Protected against 5 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 1.7kg mass dropped from 300mm above-impacted surface.
IK09 | Protected against 10 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 5kg mass dropped from 200mm above-impacted surface.
IK10 | Protected against 20 joules impact |
Equivalent to impact of 5kg mass dropped from 400mm above-impacted surface. |
